NEO-RLS News-February 8, 2023

Still a Few Seats Remaining-Register Today!

A Note From the Executive Director

One of the four Strategic Goals in the 2022-2025 NEO-RLS Strategic Plan is: Embed best practices for diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in all that we do.

The NEO-RLS Staff, Board, and Board Committees are committed to the work that falls under the purview of this goal and over the last year have participated in mandatory training workshops provided by the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Kent State University. With the success of these workshops, they will now be offered on an ongoing basis for membership participation. Registration is open for the following upcoming workshops:

Intersectionality 101: Tuesday, February 14th, from 10:00am – 11:00am (webinar)

Intersectionality is a concept that allows us to examine multiple areas of our lives and social identities. During this session, participants will examine what it actually is, discuss the history of the theory and begin to apply an intersectional lens.

Understanding Race and Racism: Wednesday, May 3rd, from 10:00am – 11:00am (webinar)

Race and racism are significant parts of our society and shape the way it works. Participants will explore their own understandings, discuss how racism is upheld through policy and practice, and develop strategies to disrupt it.

A Day for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Wednesday, June 7th, from 9:30am – 12:30pm (in-person)

Here is your opportunity to be introduced to diversity, equity, and inclusion training all in one day with Recognizing Bias, Addressing Microaggressions, and Intersectionality 101.

Have a great day!
