Welcome 2023!

A Note From the Continuing Education Coordinator

Happy New Year!  I am excited to announce the 2023 Customer Service Academy.  This academy will be set up like the New Supervisors’ and Leadership Academies.  You will register once for all of the events.  The 2023 Customer Service Academy is a blended learning event.  It will consist of three webinars and one in-person event.  The academy starts with Becoming Good Library Ambassadors on Thursday, January 19, 2023, then, Responding to Uncomfortable Situations in the Library Setting on March 1, 2023 and the last webinar is, Passive-Aggressive Behavior: Sources and Solutions for Library Workspaces on June 13, 2023.

Included in the Customer Service Academy is our ever- popular Day for Public Service which will be offered in four locations throughout the year, Mentor, Medina, Avon Lake, and Canfield. You will choose your location to register.  This year we have invited MJ Callaway to present How To Pivot, Thrive, and Bounce-Up™ During Change and Molly Meyers LaBadie to share Yes… And Customer Service.  We will also have time for roundtable discussions.

You will not want to miss this opportunity to bounce up, strengthen your customer service skills, and network with your peers.  Click this link to see the academy in its entirety as well as register.

I look forward to seeing you,
Melissa

Caring For Yourself

Call for Panelists

In celebration of Read Across America 2023, the ALA Committee on Literacy is seeking to host two webinars on March 14, 2023, highlighting the work of librarians who are facilitating creative, inclusive, innovative programs and projects for Read Across America. Presenters interested in speaking on this webinar panel should submit a description of their featured program by January 15 for priority selection. Programs should demonstrate representation of diverse experiences and backgrounds in ways that humanize people, stories, and experiences across cultures, class, religions, abilities, gender, etc. The committee is particularly interested in highlighting programs that demonstrate collaboration between school and public libraries, promote intergenerational sharing opportunities, or support family and community literacy.
