More Than Just a Website

A Note From the Executive Director

Over the last year, many of our members have requested that we offer hybrid options for events. Next week, we will finally take a step towards fulfilling that request using our new OWL LABS Meeting Owl 3. The HR and Fiscal Officer Network Meeting will be held in-person on Friday, November 4th from 10:00am – 3:00pm at Warren-Trumbull County Public Library AND there will be a virtual option. If you can't make it in person or prefer to attend from the comfort of your desk, you can register for the virtual meeting here. In addition to the opportunity to network with your peers, there will also be two speakers, Tracy Snider, who will discuss helping staff with job burnout, and Kile Byington, who will share some tricks with Microsoft Excel.

We hope this hybrid networking meeting will be a success and we can continue to expand our hybrid offerings, making continuing education and collaboration opportunities more accessible to all NEO-RLS members.

Have a great day!

From the State Library of Ohio

Buckeye Book Fair
Saturday, November 5, 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Greystone Event Center, Wooster
The 35th anniversary Buckeye Book Fair features speakers, literary activities for all ages, and Ohio authors and illustrators who will meet readers and sign copies of their latest books. Admission is a suggested donation of $2 at the door. For more information and a complete list of participating authors, visit www.buckeyebookfair.org.
Two opportunities from the Ohio Afterschool Network, which is our statewide advocacy, networking, and education organization for out-of-school-time (OST) professionals. Public library workers are afterschool providers and are welcome to participate in OAN activities. I hope some of you consider submitting a proposal for their conference! There is a lot of untapped potential for public library workers and other OST specialists to collaborate, network, and learn from each other.
School Library Journal and the Children’s Book Council have partnered on a poster in support of LGBTQIA+ youth, for distribution to teachers, librarians, and booksellers. See the poster image and details here.
You can download the poster image from that link for in-house printing. You can also receive two free copies of the poster, by request, if you are a subscriber to the CSB’s Every Child a Reader newsletter – you can sign up here.
