Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

A Note From the Continuing Education Coordinator

Over the past several months I have been working on new ways to utilize the technology kits that NEO-RLS has available to our members. In the past, the emerging tech kits have served as a way for library patrons and staff to try out new and emerging tech that they may not have seen or even heard of before. While that hands-on experience is great, I felt that there could be a way to enhance that experience by incorporating technology literacy into the kits. With that in mind, I have decided to start with a reconfiguration of our e-Health kits. NEO-RLS has a plethora of digital health technology including air quality monitors, comprehensive home health monitoring devices, wearable fitness trackers, meditation headbands, and many more. Rather than circulate the health kits with an assortment of tech included, they are now available as three themed kits, which include:
  • Digital Fitness
  • Home Health Technology
  • Preventative Technology
Each kit includes relevant technology for a hands-on experience and a fully developed PowerPoint presentation. In addition, there is health literacy information included in the PowerPoint as well as printable health literacy handouts and resources. My hope is that these kits will provide library staff with a turn-key program that not only introduces technology but also empowers patrons with critical health literacy information.
If you are interested in reserving one of the Health Literacy Kits, please click here or contact me at ragan.snead@neo-rls.org.
Together we are maximizing library potential!
