Collaboration

Welcome to our Newest NEO-RLS Gold Member!

We are pleased to welcome the Stark County Law Library to NEO-RLS for the 2021-2022 membership year.

A Note from the Executive Director

We are now fully into summer and that brings changes in routine for many of us.  In spite of COVID-19, many of those changes are still evident even if manifested differently than in previous years.  As libraries of all types begin to normalize their operations, public libraries are beginning a wide range of Summer Reading programs, academic libraries have fewer students on campus, school libraries are shuttered for the summer and special libraries may see a reopening surge or ebb in use based on their type.  At NEO-RLS, summer brings the end of our fiscal year on June 30th, changes in the composition of the Board of Trustees for the next year, a heart-felt welcome to our new members for 2021-2022 and the final touches on our July-December continuing education schedule.  As the summer progresses we will resume in-person strategic planning services and library visits.  By November, we will begin hosting in-person workshops in conjunction with our robust schedule of webinars.  We look forward to the possibility of an in-person Membership and Appreciation Breakfast on Tuesday, November 16th.  Just as you are looking forward to seeing your returning customers, we look forward to seeing all of you.  Enjoy this period of change in routine along with the sunshine.  Together we are maximizing library potential.  Have a wonderful week!

Inclusive Workplace

From the State Library

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is offering grants to build new Storybook Trails throughout Ohio. According to the OLC, the $5,000 to $10,000 grants are available to public libraries under the “special districts” or nonprofit organization designations. Funding can be used for the construction or maintenance of the trail and signage. School Library Journal presents SLJTeen Live, a free virtual event, Thursday, August 5 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. It’s a day full of live author panels and library programming sessions all about teen literature, teen authors, teen librarians, and teens!
