NEO-RLS News-August 3, 2020

This Thursday

A Note from the Board President, William Rutger

Greetings! As the incoming President of NEO-RLS, I wanted to use this week’s newsletter to take a moment and highlight the dynamic collaborative opportunities we offer that can help during these unusual and challenging times. But first, on behalf of our Board and staff, I want to thank my predecessor Kim Garrett for her exceptional leadership this past year. Kim is a great example of NEO-RLS’s values: collaborative, professional, and proactive. As libraries continue though this uncharted territory it helps to have the resources and support of organizations such as NEO-RLS. Beyond the professional development and continuing education, our greatest benefit is our membership and the opportunities to network with, learn from and support each other.  NEO-RLS’s diversity in membership types, sizes, and geographic locations offers a unique opportunity to pull from varied backgrounds to find innovative solutions and ideas that can be applied to our communities, our staff, and ourselves. I believe our strength is not only with our exceptional staff, but with our members working together to develop and share innovative ways to meet the changing needs of our communities. In addition to our networking groups, consulting services, and academies (leadership, customer service and new supervisors’) I want to encourage you to consider joining one of the many committee opportunities – Marketing/PR, Awards, Finance, and Multi-Type Libraries to just name a few. Add your voice to the conversation so you can play a part in strengthening NEO-RLS and together we can maximize library potential!

Stay healthy. Stay safe.
William Rutger

Managing a team of even the most talented customer service professionals can be difficult. The secret ingredient to professional customer service in any organization is the people who work in it.
