Take 5: An Ohio Youth Services Experience
Friday, May 7, 2021, 1:00-4:00 pm
(plus self-paced lead-up activities!)

It has been a long winter and an even longer time of multiple national and global crises. We are exhausted and our teens are also exhausted, and we miss them! But spring is coming, and recent pandemic news is hopeful, and we are all more than ready to reemerge into active library life, refocus on supporting our own and our young peoples’ well-being, and reconnect with our teens and each other.

Take 5 is ready to meet you online to share creative approaches, new ideas, collaboration, and network-building. For the tenth annual event, the planning team is creating a quality, unconventional professional development experience, focused on mental and emotional wellness, with the theme “Reemerge, Refocus, Reconnect.”

Take 5 is a day of dialogue and discovery for public library teen and youth services specialists, school librarians, and other youth advocates. Take 5 events feature active learning opportunities, speaker sessions with allies outside the library field, hands-on activities, and networking.

In recognition of online meeting fatigue, this year’s live event will be 3 hours max, instead of all day. Registrants will receive links to exclusive prerecorded speaker sessions and other activities to explore at your own pace before the live event. This content directly compliments the theme and will be woven throughout the day's activities.

Take 5: Reemerge, Refocus, Reconnect is FREE but registration is required. Registration is anticipated to open in early March. Registration will be announced on this list and other Ohio library listservs, and will be posted to the Take 5 webpage and Facebook page.

Ohio Digital Network’s Outreach Working Group is seeking new members for the next 2-3 year term. If this sounds interesting to you, read on!

The Outreach Working Group meets quarterly to advise on Ohio Digital Network projects and works on some of their own, too. In our last term, members of the Outreach Working Group curated sets of Ohio-based Primary Source Sets for classroom and educator use. This time around, your input can shape the direction of the team.

We are looking for members from all GLAMs who currently have digital collections, and who are interested in the work that ODN and DPLA do. Terms are staggered at 2 and 3 years in length, with opportunity to Chair in 2022. Additionally, one member of the Working Group will represent public library interests across Ohio as part of the Community Engagement Centers program.

Candidates can fill out our brief application, and contact Jen Johnson with any questions. We plan to have the group finalized by the end of February with our first meeting in late March.
