Libraries and Food During Covid PodcastTeam Vittles is a group of Librarians who spread the word about food initiatives and libraries across Ohio. To that end, we recently recorded a podcast that can help libraries and other non-profits/municipal entities provide meals for kids during the pandemic. The government has made it much easier to provide food via the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program(CACFP) which is very similar to what libraries do in the Summer Food Service Program(SFSP). Eligibility has been increased so that over 99% of Ohio is now eligible for this program. Listen to the podcast to see how your library or community partner can work with Children’s Hunger Alliance(CHA) to provide free meals to kids in your area.Key Facts: 1. You don’t have to cook any food. 2. You don’t have to pay any bills. 3. You have very little paperwork to attend to. CHA does all the hard work for you! 4. You also don’t have to worry about hot or cold storage. All food can be pre-packaged, shelf-stable. If you’re interested in providing meals during this time or know of another organization that might be interested, please give this podcast a listen and a share! https://teamvittles.podbean.com/e/using-cacfpthe-schoolyear-version-of-sfsp-to-fight-hunger-during-covid/ | |
