NEO-RLS AnnouncementsAwards Deadline September 30thDo you deserve an award? Do you know someone who does? Along with the Rising Star Award which honors a library employee with no more than five years’ experience, we now have the NEW Shooting Star Award to honor library employees who have been working in the field with more than 10 years’ of experience and the NEW Advocacy Award for those who have supported the libraries of our region through their advocacy. The first two award recipients will be selected by our new State Librarian and presented at the annual NEO-RLS Membership Meeting. The Advocacy Award recipient(s) will be selected by the NEO-RLS Awards Committee and presented at the Membership Meeting. If you know someone who has had a positive impact on your library and community, please consider nominating them! The deadline for all three awards is now September 30th and all of the information you need is on our website under Awards. Honor the stars and advocates in our region by nominating someone today! Share Your Emerging Technology Project Have a great technology program, project, service or event that you have implemented at your library and would like to feature? Share it through a virtual poster session as part of the 2020 Emerging Technology Symposium in September! Throughout the month of September, we will be highlighting projects and programs that use technology to bring innovative services to our communities and libraries. These sessions can be as short as 15-minutes or as long as one hour. Library staff are always eager to learn about how others have used technology in a new and creative way, making this is a great way to highlight your ideas. With many libraries going virtual due to COVID-19, staff stepped up and developed innovative programs to continue the delivery of excellent services. Share your challenges, successes, advice and more through your own virtual poster session. Poster sessions will be done via Zoom. You don't need any additional equipment, just your phone. If you do need additional equipment to feature or highlight a special project, contact holly.klingler@neo-rls.org. Share Library Impact Stories During Covid-19 With Ohio’s Legislators Do you have a story to tell about how your library helped your community in a meaningful way during the pandemic? Have you heard from customers that you made it possible for them to do or get what they needed during this difficult time? If so, please send your story to Betsy Lantz so they may be shared with Ohio’s legislators by the new State Librarian, Wendy Knapp, in presenting the case for continued financial support of our libraries and the State Library of Ohio. | |
